About the event

Join us for an honest and thought-provoking conversation with filmmaker Kufikiri Imara, co-creator and producer of the award-winning documentary A Table of Our Own (2023). Hosted by Dori G. Lewis, co-founder of Elemental Psychedelics, this webinar will explore the film’s deeper themes and the broader conversation it invites within the psychedelic community.

Kufikiri Imara became a key member of the grassroots collective Decriminalize Nature Oakland, playing a pivotal role in the organization’s political success while leading their committee on Outreach, Education, Access, and Integration. He later helped advance education in the field as a co-facilitator and instructor in one of the first above-ground engagement trainings for psychedelic-assisted therapy. Continuing his commitment to community care and representation, Kufikiri also became the inaugural facilitator for the BIPOC Entheogen Integration Circle in partnership with the San Francisco Psychedelic Society.

In this live webinar, Dori and Kufikiri will discuss the creation of A Table of Our Own and why it is essential to have courageous and nuanced conversations about power, privilege, representation, and the continued marginalization of certain voices within the psychedelic space. Together, they will explore how these dynamics shape access, leadership, and cultural narratives in the emerging psychedelic ecosystem.

The conversation will be followed by a live Q&A, giving participants the opportunity to engage directly and reflect on how we can collectively cultivate a more equitable and inclusive future for this work.

About Kufikiri Imara

Kufikiri Imara was born and raised on unceded Huichin territory, of the Ohlone people (Oakland, California). His parents were both involved in the modern Civil Rights and Black Power movements, so he grew up in a family, and community, that strongly emphasized political awareness and social responsibility. His unique journey would see him become an early member of the Entheogen Integration Circle in NYC, supporting marginalized communities within the larger psychedelic space.

Kufikiri Imara became a key member of the Decriminalize Nature Oakland grassroots collective, pivotal in the group's political success, and would head their committee on Outreach, Education, Access, & Integration. He built on his experiences when in his role of co-facilitator/instructor for the first of its kind, above ground, engagement training for psychedelic assisted therapy. Continued education saw Kufikiri become the inaugural facilitator for the BIPOC Entheogen Integration Circle, in partnership with the San Francisco Psychedelic Society. Kufikiri would go on to co-create/produce the groundbreaking, award winning, documentary film A Table of Our Own(2023).
